Missy's Story...
Missy is a 4-5 month old baby black beauty who came into a high kill shelter in Louisiana as a stray with her mom Mya (already adopted). Labrador types (especially black Labs/mixes) are the most common and most euthanized dogs in southern shelters of which she came from.

Missy is doing amazingly well in foster care! Her foster family is head over heels in love with the little girl and has only good things to say about her. She is catching on quickly to potty training, crate training, leash walking and other basic doggie manners. She is a joy to be around and loves everyone she meets.

We expect Missy to be on the smaller side when she grows up…her mom is only 40# and she is a petite puppy. Missy is current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention.

Send in your application today! Here is Missy in action the day she left the shelter (April 10th)…she had just had a bath and was enjoying some sunshine and green grass after being in the cold, concrete shelter for a week: http://youtu.be/Z8olzQLISDM.

Please email us at bonniebluerescue@gmail.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting Missy! Our adoption fee is $300. $75 of the adoption fee is refundable if proof of completion of obedience class is demonstrated within 3 months of adoption. Each of our pups goes to their forever family up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Richmond Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
