Please be patient with us - we're taking care of a lot of furkids - our own and the PALS kids - and we are all volunteers with families, homes and full time jobs. We'll return email and phone inquiries just as fast as we pawssibly can. Thanks!

ADOPTION DONATIONS: Adoption donations for PALS animals go directly either to medical care for those or other furkids in need, or towards maintenance and improvement of our shelter!

ADOPTIONS: We don't let the fact that you might live out of state stop any adoption that's meant to be, but you MUST be willing to drive, or fly, all the way to pick up your new family member.

It's so easy to donate to PALS and help the homeless furkids...and it's tax-deductible! Simply PayPal to palsiowa@pcpartner.net or mail your check to PALS, PO Box 123, Grinnell, IA 50112. THANK YOU!!

About Poweshiek Animal League Shelter

About Our Shelter...

PALS’ mission is to provide care and shelter for homeless or unwanted animals, to strive to find permanent, loving homes for these animals, to respond to animal neglect and abuse reports, to educate children and adults in our communities on the humane treatment of animals, and on the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation.

PALS has worked extremely hard for the past seven years to provide our county with a shelter. Prior to our opening, the only option for stray animals picked up by city police and sheriff’s departments in Poweshiek County was a 7-day stay at local veterinary clinics. If owners or an adopting family were not found in that short period of time, the animals were then euthanized. PALS has stepped in not only to provide a safe haven for these homeless animals, but to also ensure they receive responsible vet care including spay/neuters, shots, deworming, and flea/tick control, as well as addressing any emergency medical concerns. We are happy to report that we have helped more than 2000 animals find loving homes!
