My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adopted 6-16-2013; unavailable. Original bio below:

Sammy is a 6 year old, 12 lb. pure-bred male Silky Terrier. His senior owner recently passed away & Sammy needs a new forever home. This wonderful little guy is an excellent companion. He's 100% potty trained (outdoors), enjoys being in the backyard, & loves hanging out with his humans. Sammy is sweet, smart, happy, friendly, good with other small dogs, & is a handsome boy. He has an outstanding temperament & is an all around good little dog. He's neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, professionally groomed & has just had a vet exam. Sammy needs a home with either all adults or older children (12 years & up who have small dog experience & know how to properly treat a small dog) - NO small/young children.

Silkies are like Yorkies. These loving little terriers are very intelligent, courageous, loyal & alert. Affectionate, spunky, cheerful, & sociable, it likes to be close to its master. They have good energy & need daily exercise. 30-40 minutes of daily exercise is a must. Curious & keen, it's an enthusiastic dog & is eager to learn. Active, smart & quick. Despite its size, this docile dog makes a good watchdog. This is a sturdy breed that adjusts well to traveling. It is not generally trustworthy with other non-canine pets such as rabbits, hamsters & guinea pigs. Both Silkies & Yorkies are hunters at heart. They were working dogs who hunted vermin in addition to being companion dogs for their families. Socialize well with cats, so it does not chase them. Good with children so long as the dog does not have a meek owner who fails to give him the discipline and structure all dogs need.

Sammy is a great dog who will reward his new family with loads of love & devotion.

Thank you for choosing a rescue dog! You're saving the life of a loving, homeless pet.
