Facts about Cupcake

  • Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Cupcake is one of our dogs that represents exactly what we do and why we do it. Cupcake was a breeding machine, and had a neglectful owner. She was pulled from living in a shed with her new born pups, half of them dead. There was a group of kids threatening to kill her and her pups so thats when we stepped in. She was so happy to see a kind face she ran right to the rescuer, she did not hesitate to jump in the car. The surviving pups were saved and Cupcake was very mothering. She is an awesome girl, gives great hugs and kisses and loves her toys. She is very smart, knows commands, walks great on a leash and listens well. Cupcake would be the perfect dog for the right person or family, she is very loyal; but does need an experienced handler. She has shown aggression to certain other dogs but seems ok with others, and certain men do put her off at first. Give a call if you would like more information.

About Heart of Texas SPCA

About Our Shelter...

Our History:
Our shelter was established in May of 2000 as a No-kill, 501 (c) (3) non-profit shelter. At that time animals were fostered and adopted out by word of mouth. In November 2001 adoptions were done out of a donated space at a local veterinary clinic, staffed completely by volunteers. We outgrew that space quickly and moved into our own location in 2002. We are now located on IH-10 West in Fair Oaks Ranch, near Boerne, housing only dogs. We have made great improvements threw the years and hope to increase the number of animals rescued, increase adoptions, fundraising events, and reach more of the community. We provide a temporary shelter, rehabilitation and care to homeless and unwanted dogs until responsible, loving homes can be found. As a no-kill shelter, we want to help reduce the number of animals euthanized each year by educating the public on the importance of proper pet care, animal behavior and overpopulation prevention.
"Saving lives others have toss away".
