Here's what the humans have to say about me:
O’Rourke was found as part of a TNR project in January, 2013, and proved to be a sweet, gentle lap cat. O’Rourke is reserved, and his calm demeanor attracts many felines. He is like the Buddha of Tree House, with his round belly and pervasive loving-kindness. O’Rourke isn’t attached to particular cats, but he has a way of befriending all cats, even those who typically don’t like cats. Though he spends most of his time curled in a soft cat bed in the shade, O’Rourke lights up at the sight of a ball--especially a bouncy one! O'Rourke was born in 2008 and has tested positive for FIV*.
*Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
