My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zilpha is about 8 years old and weighs about 7 1/2 lbs. She has soft, silky hair and will need a regular grooming schedule. She came to us very matted and has recently been shaved clean but will be very fluffy when her hair grows out. She is a very sweet and shy girl who tries her very best to learn what is expected of her. She seems to enjoy playing with dogs her own size but isn't much for rough housing and seems to be afraid of cats. She is very afraid of steps and wouldn't do well in a multi-story home unless you are willing to carry her up and down. She will go up a couple of steps (with grim determination). She is house trained but dreads going down the two steps from the deck to the yard. Zilpha is missing most of her teeth but does very well with dry food and doesn't require a special diet. Since arriving at the rescue she has had a complete dental evaluation with cleaning and extractions. She has also been spayed and vaccinated. On the whole she is very healthy but a little thin from living in the streets. This sweetheart was neglected for a long time even before she lost her home and is still unsure if she is welcome in the house and in our lap. She adores her fuzzy blanket, gentle petting and being talked to. She gives tiny kisses when ever she has the opportunity and asks politely to be taken up into your lap. Zilpha has many happy years ahead of her and she would love to share them with someone who will be kind to her.
