My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE HELP - 7 years old. Family must find home for her by 6/30/13 due to florclosure. She is gorgeous, even though she is cut down (not shaved) for the summer. She has a cute tail that's kind of unusual in that it makes a full circle and more! She is very sweet and warms up quickly, but is not a jumper. She was a normal Pyr, barking at passersby walking a dog. She gets along with cats, dogs, and loves children. Thumper is not food aggressive and is very polite about taking treats by hand (and we brought very tempting and stinky fish and venison jerky!). she hasn't been spayed (but never had a litter). She'd be a great addition to a new family.
The beauty of a Great Pyrenees can take your breath away, but they are unique dogs which require dedicated owners who have thoroughly researched the traits of the breed. Feel free to visit our website at www.nepyresq.org for information to start your journey! Northeast Pyrenees Rescue only sponsors dogs from the Northeast including New Jersey for placement in homes in our region. If you are interested in meeting this pyrenees, please complete our application at http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-application-36.html Please include any questions in the comments field of the application. Keep in mind that we are a volunteer organization and encourage serious inquiries only. Great Pyrenees are known for their barking as they were bred to be Livestock Guardians. HOWEVER, a dog not raised around farm animals does not automatically become an Livestock Guardian. They are trained from birth to do that job. If you need a working dog you should contact a reputable breeder for a trained dog. Find breeders at Great Pyrenees Club of America www.gpcaonline.org
