Ryder's Story...
Ryder is an 8 week old Lab/possibly Aussie mix. He is significantly larger than his litter mates so we're guessing he is going to grow into a larger dog. He loves to snuggle into someone's lap for a nice snooze and is super sweet. He is gradually playing more with his siblings and coming out of his shell more. Ryder is new to rescue so we will update soon.

Ryder will either be neutered prior to adoption or be adopted out with a specific requirement to neuter in the adoption contract. He will also be microchipped before adoption.

(An adoption donation of $250 is required.) If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out the CHEW Adoption Application you can find on our website: chewdogrescue.org/Forms.html If you have previously submitted an application form, there is no need to re-apply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ryder, a Gig Harbor Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd for sale in Gig Harbor, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd puppy from a breeder in Gig Harbor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gig Harbor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gig Harbor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gig Harbor paves the way for another one to be saved.
