My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kiko is just over 2 years old and approximately 60 pounds; she is likely a Labrador retriever/German Shepard mix. She came to us from the SPCA in Prince Albert after assumably being hit by a car. She received surgery on her left hip to correct the damage. She came malnourished, but has been slowly gaining weight and getting more healthy. She is house trained and crate trained. She is excellent with adults and children (provided she is introduced in a calm way), enjoying the love and play-time with them, and is good with other dogs in both the home and outside settings; the PA SPCA indicated she was good with cats, but we have yet to experience this.

Kiko is a medium energy lady, with a sweet, gentle personality. She wants to be involved with every aspect of your life. She enjoys going for walks, playing fetch (which is her favourite pass time), being at the dog park, or any other activity you're doing. At home, she is content to relax with you and be quiet, laying on her bed or on your lap if you want.

Kiko does well in the crate both during the day and overnight, without making a sound. Because of the surgery, she has not been left out to roam during the day/night unsupervised. She understands basic commands (sit, lay down, stay); she is very smart and would benefit from further training. She pulls a little on the walk, but has been improving with a consistent leader and is expected to continue to improve. She gets a little spooked by loud vehicles and fireworks. She still has a slight limp on her left side and will need a lot of love! She has been doing really well with her rehabilitation, and would benefit from continued appointments.

This sweet lady has so much love to give and is ready for her forever home. One of her ears stands up like a Shepard and one folded down like a Labrador, which gives her an individual and curious look. She is ready to give kisses and appreciation to you at a moment's notice. She is great as an apartment dog, provided she gets out for a few good walks. She would make a lovely addition to any home
