Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear is wonderful, sweet and loyal dog originally from Anguilla who has been in foster care for over a year. He came to Island Puppy Rescue after his owner moved from their country home to NYC and he was unable to adjust to his new environment, too much noise and confusion for this gentle boy.
Since being in foster care he has made great strides in overcoming his fears of life in the suburbs. His foster mom works with a trainer and it would be recommended that his forever family do the same. His only issue at this time is reactivity to other dogs while leash walking and he is getting better everyday! Bear absolutely loves his training and would make a great agility or obedience dog with continued positive training. His trainer calls him a "diamond in the rough". He is so eager to please and willing to learn!
Bear lives with 2 other adult male dogs and 3 cats and gets along great with them all. His foster home has puppies coming and going frequently and they make him a bit nervous so he usually stays away from them.
Bear would love a quiet home with a gentle person who likes walking and maybe even jogging with a willing companion. And someone interested in training would be icing on the cake.
