This sweet, trusting boy was rescued just in time to escape the lethal injection at the high-kill Lancaster Animal Shelter pound. Since early May he has been in the care of his devoted foster mom, who has given him all needed vet care and professional training, as well as lots of loving and socialization. Barney has been tested with big, aggressive dogs and fully submits and doesn’t retaliate. He’s fine with little, happy dogs, but Barney is a big boy at 75 pounds, and he can accidentally squash them, so we do not recommend that he goes to a home with small animals, even though Barney has never injured another dog, even when defending himself. In regards to children, Barney has not been tested with babies or small children, but he has been tested with kids 10 years and up and is great with them.
With this professional assessment by his trainer, Barney is now ready for his forever home. He is a big and strong teddy bear that just needs someone who is willing to continue with his training. His trainer Jennifer Gray from Sunny Day Acres (http://www.completelyk9s.com/) will give Barney’s adopter a 50% discount to continue training!
Barney has good house manners, knows basic obedience commands like sit, down and come, is house-broken and generally walks well on a leash.
He is a total lover and a really sweet boy, ready to spend the rest of his life with someone who will love him unconditionally.
If you are interested in meeting Barney, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and fax it back to us at (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our Saturday Adoptions at Centinela Feed.
