My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We rescued Stella from a kill shelter. She was nursing 3 kittens. She looked bad - dirty coat, bad teeth, cloudy eyes. She was very sweet and loving, however, and very patient with her bratty kits. As soon as they were big enough to move on to solid food we separated them and moved them to a foster home. Stella has the time and energy to take care of her coat, eat good foods, be lazy and enjoy her life. Stella was estimated to have been 6 years old.

Stella has come a long way since - she had been spayed, her teeth are not as bad as they seemed, even though she has one, walrus-like canine sticking out of her mouth, but it only adds to her character.

Stella is vaccinated, spayed, tested negativ for FIV and FELV and up to date on vaccinations. She is very affectionate, smart and fine with other cats.

Below is a testimony from Stella's foster mom. She wanted to keep her but the resident cat, having recently lost a brother, was too depressed and - it was just not good timing...

"Not sure when my heart first utterly melted for pretty Stella -- such a smart, brave, bold and gentle soul. It might have started when I first saw her picture, what a mug! Love the beautiful Russian Blue fur, the vulnerability of her eyes. . .and yes, the snaggle tooth, the sweetness and even comedy of it all in combination with her regal bearing. Maybe it was when she trusted me so easily, even though life must have certainly given her reasons till now to be wary. Maybe it was her hilarious habit of running straight for something that she's heard to check it out, silly kitty that doesn't seem to care that most of her peers would pause to take stock, or even perhaps take cover. For sure it was by the time she and I had established our new habit of hanging out on the couch together, me watching tv and petting her, and I realized that I had to screen my tv choices. Any program (Animal Planet or other) that contained even occasional sounds of people or animals in distress was very upsetting to her. Wonderful, empathetic Stella. Stella shows you such appreciation for every kindness and care that you extend to her, and she's one of the smartest cats that I have come across in a lifetime. She will also 'tell' you if you have offended her sense of right and wrong - a soft hiss (no real malice) or a gentle swat while she maintains eye contact with you to see if you understand. You both know you'll work it out. She is very good with other cats, lots of social graces, she is perfect with her litter box and she is meticulous with her self-grooming. Whoever gets Stella is a lucky person indeed."
