My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BLONDIE : 1 1/2 year old spayed female Yellow Lab/American Bull Dog 75 lbs

Blondie is an owner surrender as they had to move and the place they moved to decided no dogs. The owners got Blondie from their neighbor. Their dog - American Bulldog got you and had puppies with the other neighbor - yellow lab. They have had Blondie since she was 2 months old and was an inside dog but since the move she has been outside. The owners describe her as a young energetic dog that get very excited at first but is only interested in meeting you and playing. (We feel this is because the owners work full time and the only attention Blondie is getting is when she gets fed.) Blondie loves all toys but her favorite is tennis balls. She is a very happy friendly dog that needs more attention, training and exercise than the current owners can give her. Blondie is crate trained and has some obedience when she was smaller. When we met Blondie she did jump up but it was out of being starved for attention. She picks up quickly and really wants to please. She knows sit and with a correction collar she will walk well on leash. She loves to go for car rides , she does not have any anxiety when left alone but she may chew on nondog items as she is still a BIG puppy! She has not been around cats but she does get excited when she sees them so a home with no cats would be best. She loves all dogs and just wants to run and play. (She does play rough so older dogs may not be happy with her.) When we met her there were many dogs around off and on leash and Blondie just wanted to have fun!

We have Blondie in a foster home currently where they are helping her with some great training- this is what they have to say about her:
We are very pleased with her progress. She knew sit already. Using the clicker, she has already learned down(she has to think about it first), wait, stay(for a short time), hurry(for potty), here(for recall), leave, off, and is doing pretty well with leash walking in our yard with a front leash connection. Once she is a bit more solid on leash. I will take her out in the neighborhood with all the distractions. We are working on give, drop, impulse control and confidence. She wants to please, though distractions can throw that off. She chased a cat who was in the yard, but was only mildly interested when 2 birds were feeding on the ground. She is crate and house trained. She will lie quietly and snooze if nothing is going on. Rides in the car ok in a crate. Can be left alone in a crate for a few hours. Loves to play ball. She sleeps through the night in a crate in our bedroom. When seeing new people, she gets very excited and will bark and when she wants attention. (We are working on this.) She is not the best with body sensitivity and at times will knock into you. I have begun to introduce teeth brushing and nail trimming and she does fine with bath and ear cleaning. Generally she is a happy, super affectionate dog. She accepts our leadership and is a pleasure to have around.

The adopter needs to be a person who will lead Blondie and not let Blondie lead them. Blondie wants a home that she will be part of the pack and a home that she can show you Blondes have more fun! Blondie has all her shots, is spayed, is heartworm negative and is microchipped. (She has no health issues.) She always has a smile on her face - one happy girl. She is located on Fremont.
