Cody's Story...
Cody is a sweet pup that has been through alot. He is only a year old and as happy as every now we just need to find him a forever home! please read his story. :)

In September of 2012, two young mixed breed puppies were rescued from MDAS just hours before being euthanized. After much discussion and disagreement over placement, the two puppies were adopted by volunteer foster home. The adoption was never completed, however, and the foster home severed communication with this rescue. Less than a year later, the foster home surrendered the two young dogs to a rescue in Palm Beach County. They never contacted us to return the pups.

Tragically, Cody was then adopted out to an unknown person, escaped from them, and was hit by a car.

Cody's leg was shattered.

At this point, no one would step up to take Cody to the vet for the care he needed, so the people took him to Palm Beach Animal Control and left him there as a stray.

Thankfully, PBAC contacted No Paw Left Behind since the microchip traced back to us, and we immediately drove up there to pick up Cody. Amazingly, Maggie was also tracked down and is going to be reunited with Cody as soon as he is stable enough to come out of the hospital.

Cody's leg is broken in multiple places. At 38 lbs, this young boy is going to need major surgery to place a metal plate and pins in his leg if there is any hope for him to ever walk again. If we cannot get him this surgery, he will likely lose his let completely. We ask for everyone's help sharing this story and raising donations to get him the surgery ASAP.

No Paw will be issuing a statement about this and other situations regarding our policies and volunteers over the past year who have broken these policies. It is important to mention that we all do our best to help pets, No Paw feels that many of the volunteers who have caused harm to pets like Cody should not be shunned. There is enough negativity in rescue already. At this point we want others to learn from this story and share these experiences so that people understand that rescues, especially established rescues like No Paw Left Behind, have policies for a reason - these policies have been developed to help avoid situations like this one.

Thank you to all our supporters.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cody, a Lighthouse Point Basenji dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basenji for sale in Lighthouse Point, or seeking a Basenji dog from a breeder in Lighthouse Point.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lighthouse Point already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lighthouse Point breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basenji breeders who help with Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lighthouse Point paves the way for another one to be saved.
