Lenox's Story...
When Lenox was found he was skin and bones and his fur was so matted he could hardly walk. A trip to the vet also confirmed he had hyperthyroidism. They said he was a good candidate for a Thyroidectomy. It took 2 weeks to get him healthy enough to be shaved and have the surgery. Today his blood work shows his thyroid levels are normal and he has gained weight (now weighs 7 pounds) - the surgery was a success! His gray silky hair is growing back slowly. He has to get a few teeth pulled tomorrow but will be at the shelter Monday (July 1st) ready for visitors and ready to adopt a person. POSTED JUNE 26, 2013

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lenox, a Geneseo Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Geneseo, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Geneseo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Geneseo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Geneseo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Geneseo paves the way for another one to be saved.
