Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is a courtesy listing. Duke is not a CHEW Dog Rescue dog. Please contact Shelley at mac66colburn@gmail.com if you are interested in Duke.
This 4yr old black lab mix loves to play fetch with a tennis ball. He loves to go kayaking and hiking too. He will even carry his own backpack. He is up to date on all his vaccines and has a microchip.
He is exceptionally well trained, with a few exceptions. He can sit, speak, shake, stay, leave it and play fetch. He also knows out of the room command which is nice when eating dinner. Also go "lay down", to get him to head to his dog bed. When he gets excited when people come to visit, he knows "go upstairs" command. He stays up there until he calms down and is released. He will release from all his commands with an "O.K",
Duke lives with two other dogs but is reactive to other dogs while on a leash. Off leash he is excellent with less dominant dogs than himself. He loves to swim and jump off of a dock but prances in the grass when it is wet, unless he is playing fetch. A normal tennis ball only lasts a matter of minutes so he has to have the rubber kind.
In general Duke just wants to be by your side, and play fetch. After he gets to know you, which only takes a couple hours, Duke will become your shadow. His family would like to keep him but he is not fond of young children and we have a young one on the way.
Duke does not like to be left alone but will not destroy anything while you are gone. He is a little food aggressive but is learning to work with this issue. Please hide your tennis balls and provide a loving home to my running partner. Did I mention he likes to play fetch?
