My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Friends!
My name is “Frank The Tank.” They usually just call me “Frank.” Frank The Tank is a suitable name for me because I am built like one! I’m 5 years young and full of life and love. I was rescued from Craigslist, a very dangerous place for dogs. I consider myself VERY lucky to have ended up with IEBR instead of in the hands of someone else. I’m loving foster care and trying to get caught up on all the love and attention I’ve been missing all these years. So far so good! They adore me and I adore them right back.
I’ve been in at least 4 different homes already that we know of. My first family apparently left me in a cage 24/7 while they went through a nasty, drawn-out divorce. The first few years of my life were spent alone and scared in the cage without any attention. As a result, I am terrified of crates. It’s the only thing I don’t like. My second home actually somewhat took care of me and took me to the vet for medical care, etc. He had me for about a year and then sold me on Craigslist to a family that only kept me for 6 weeks. Then it was back to Craigslist I went! That’s when IEBR came across my ad and scooped me up. No more Craigslist for this guy! I’m looking for my FOREVER home now. I need a REAL family.
My foster family can’t believe I’ve been passed around so much. They say it’s really shocking because of what a good boy I am! I must admit, I am a pretty awesome bullie boy, and to quote my foster mom and dad, I am “absolutely PERFECT!!!” I’ll tell you more in a minute about that.
They say I’m a little overweight, so I’m on a diet. I personally like to think of myself as “full figured,” but the vet and my foster parents disagree. They say I will feel and get around much better if I can lose some of it. Right now I am about 62# but should be more like 53-55#. An extra 7-9# is a LOT when you only weight 62# total. I have to admit that it is a bit of a struggle for me to move very well right now. I’m doing great with the diet, though, and I don’t really mind it!
Also, I have suffered a leg injury in the past that went untreated, so losing weight will help me in that aspect too. Right now it hurts me a lot and I am going to have some x-rays done soon to see what’s happening in there. It’s an old injury and the muscles in my left leg are pretty small because I’ve been using my good leg for so long in order to protect my bad leg. The vet suspects an ACL tear, but we don’t know for sure until we get the x-rays. I might need surgery. We don’t know yet.
Fortunately, I am already neutered, up to date on my shots, and microchipped. I do have an odd looking growth on my head that needs to be removed and sent for testing to make sure it’s nothing to worry about. I will get that done pretty soon too.
My teeth are not in very good shape because of my “cage days.” I was so scared and stressed out in there that I would chew like crazy on the cage. One of my teeth is totally broken and juts out sideways. My teeth are pretty worn down in general from all the chewing. But I eat fine and my foster mom says my crooked mouth makes me the most adorable and lovable looking little guy ever. Because of the broken tooth, my tongue often hangs out of my mouth a little. She loves when this happens (but hates WHY it happens). I also happen to have another tooth that constantly sticks out of my mouth no matter what I do. People love this about me too! My foster parents say it’s my trademark!
Now to share some wonderful things about me. I am totally housetrained and have only had 1 accident in the house since being rescued. I am not a barker and I am extremely well-behaved. I don’t chew inappropriately (on furniture, etc.) ever. I am cuddly and LOVE to be around my foster family, canine and human. I get along perfectly with other dogs. I currently live with a bullie foster sister and 3 bullie foster brothers. I love them all and when we first met I acted like I had always been around them. Wasn’t fazed a bit! We are buddies. I’m very affectionate and love to cuddle. I also enjoy chewing on a good toy once in awhile. I do something with my toys that makes my foster mom and dad laugh. I remove them, one by one, from the toy bin and move them to a certain area of the living room and set them down. Then I go back to remove another one. I keep doing this until I have at least 15 different toys spread out on the floor. I get kind of winded, so eventually I take a nap. I must admit that this is pretty cute stuff.
Bottom line is that I am a REALLY good boy that has had a less than ideal start to life. But I’m also extremely happy and loving despite it all. I just want someone to love me forever - not until they get a divorce or move or decide they don’t want me anymore… but someone that will truly love me for all that I am. I’m such a sweet boy. If you would like me to join your family, get your application in now! I am on the hunt for the perfect people to give all my love to!!!!!!
Love and bullie kisses,
Frank The Tank
