Facts about Sheba

  • Breed: Maltese/Papillon Mix
  • Color: White - With Tan, Yellow Or Fawn
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Sheba was acquired from a Southern CA shelter. This very frightened dog was picked up as a stray and was attacked by other dogs in the shelter. Our dream for this very timid and frightened little dog was that one day when we called her name, Sheba would come running. Thus she was named Sheba, short for “Come Back Little Sheba.” Sheba was a very shy and timid little female.

For Sheba’s best interest she has been fostered by a family with a teenage daughter on long term basis to give her more time to adapt to a loving family. Sheba has made significant progress and now enjoys going on walks and car rides. She has taken a few basic obedience classes for more exposure and training.

Sheba is now ready for a permanent adoptive family. She would do best in a quiet household without small children. She enjoys playing with small dogs as Sheba is a young dog, about 2-3 yrs of age. This sweetheart is residing in a foster home in Orange County, CA.

About American Maltese Assoc. Rescue--Southern California

About Our Rescue Group...

American Maltese Association Rescue was formed in 1995 for the charitable purpose of rescuing homeless or soon to be homeless Maltese and Maltese mixes, including those found in animal shelters and those relinquished by their owners. Our organization continues today as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit with an all volunteer staff and foster care providers. Every rescue Maltese is provided with necessary medical care including spay/neutering. All of our dogs reside in foster homes where they are socialized and treated as loving pets until adopted.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to submit an Application to Adopt which is available on our website at A telephone interview is conducted and references are checked. A home visit is performed prior to the adoption to determine a safe environment for a rescue Maltese. An appointment is scheduled for the interested family to meet the rescue dog. If all parties agree that the adoptive family and rescue dog is good match, then the adoption is finalized with the payment of the adoption fee. All medical records and shot records are provided to the adoptive family.
