My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oakley is a 1 year old petite golden. He is very happy and has a lot of energy, which is to be expected in a young dog like him. He would be fine as a solo dog, or in a home with other dogs or cats. His foster family has 2 cats that he ignores them. His foster family has not had him around kids, but due to his energy he would likely do best in a home with older and/or very dog savvy kids that could participate in his training.

Oakley would really benefit from going to obedience training classes. Both to learn the basics and bond with his family, but to also get more socialization with unfamiliar dogs. He's really friendly and playful, but that can be overwhelming when meeting a new dog for the first time. His foster family is teaching him to sit and to stay. He is very smart and is food motivated so consistent training with him will do wonders!

He is a very eager eater. His foster family is feeding him 3 times a day to help him get his weight up. He's currently around 44 lbs. and the vet would like to see him at a healthy 50-55 lbs. He is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is house-trained. He also loves to chew nylabones and play fetch with a tennis ball.

With some continued TLC and training, Oakley will make an amazing companion. Do you think he may be the right golden for you?
