My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for a young BC overflowing with the traits we love about the breed – then Hank Williams may be your guy! Bright, athletic, sensitive, and driven, craving stimulation and eager to engage with his people, Hank is a 10 month old purebred BC born in Texas. Not only is Hank all of the above, but he’s super cute, super silly, and oh-so-lovable too! Bought as a puppy, his first home wasn’t able to provide the attention he needed and so he packed up his bags and landed in the local shelter…when we met him there, he was flipping his toys in the air in his kennel, having himself quite a good time.. He is now looking for a forever home who can appreciate all of his talents through WBCR.

Although he can be a little reserved when meeting new people, Hank is a very personable, snuggly, loving dog who wants to be someone’s devoted companion. He was raised around small children and loves them; he is, however, a little wary of men. Nothing a little more positive exposure won’t change, but right now he definitely prefers the company of women. Hank is a snuggle bug and just wants to be wherever his people are! If you take a shower he’s outside the door; if you are cooking he’s laying on your feet; if you are reading a book he crawls up and curls up in your lap. (Hank is a little guy, about 30 pounds, so this works out just fine!). Hank gets along really well with other dogs – he lives with 3 others in his foster home – and he loves to play with his foster BC sister who is 15 months. They wrestle and play and rumble and tumble. Hank does show some herding instinct, and is definitely a bit too interested in cats to live safely with them. He gets a real kick out of toys and will play happily with them…he also likes walks and runs and hikes, and is quite a water-loving kiddo. He’s got a great sense of humor, with crazy little antics that keep his foster family giggling all the time. But Hanks true passion is his ball - and he is sure YOU want to play as much as he does! Hence, with Hank, the tennis ball ends up everywhere you are… on the desk (his foster mom has sent emails she didn’t mean to – oops! Thanks Hank!), in the sink, in the dishwasher, in the toilet – Hank will even come in the shower with his ball – JUST IN CASE you got a hankering to play all of a sudden! Hank is a moderately high energy level boy who needs a good chunk of vigorous physical exercise daily – once his needs have been met he has an off switch indeed.

Like many BCs, Hank loves to learn and is darn good at it! He is housetrained, cratetrained, and familiar with the basics. He rides well in the car and loves to come along! He is a sensitive kiddo and will need a family who uses positive, gentle training methods. Hank could also use some confidence building – continuing his basics manners education will help, as will adopters committed to exposing Hank slowly and steadily to all the great things the world has to offer.

All in all, Hank is a wonderful young BC filled with potential, who is sure to bring years of laughs and companionship to some lucky family. He will do best in a home with another playful dog, with people who will make him a full member of the family. If you are looking for an affectionate, lovable, talented young dog who will be thrilled to accompany you on every adventure – even if it’s just a trip to the bathroom! – Hank could be the one for you.

Hank is neutered, up to date on shots, and living in a loving foster home near Jackson, WY.
