Here is what else his foster family had to say:
He follows simple commands and is eager to please. He loves his dog treats as rewards. He loves his walks and does well on his leash but does not heel. He LOVES to run and play with other dogs at the leash free park. He also enjoys playing and rough housing with our dog. He comes when he is called. We have had lots of comments on his colouring and his hair/fur. Many think we have had him styled at the groomers, but this is his all natural look. My mom tells him that many would pay a lot of money to have his look.
He has done well around other dogs at home and at the dog parks. He has played with the little dogs and the big dogs. Henry loves to chase them and be chased. He is very curious about squirrels when you walk during the day and the rabbits we see at night. He has been curious about the cats but they hide.
During our week at the cottage he loved swimming in Lake Erie but didn't go out far. He did well with the slight waves in the water. He was curious with all the new smells and things to see. His favorite spot was to sleep on the top of the couches and here he could also see out the window. He became a guard dog now that he could see what was going on with other people and dogs. He just loved my cousin who came for a visit, she is 11 years old. While on the outside deck Henry enjoyed sunning in a lawn chair or getting cozy on a lap.
Although great with women and children of all ages, Henry does seem to have some reservations with certain men. Not all men but just particular men when meeting for the first time so care should be taken when introducing him to strange men. Most men are fine and it appears to be just the odd one that he has some fear around. With most men and all women and children of all ages, there is no problem.
Henry has a great outgoing personality. He loves to greet us when we come home by jumping up and down with excitement. He doesn't really play with toys but will play tug of war with our dog when he has his toys, very entertaining.
He loves to have his ears stroked, his belly rubbed, and be petted. He loves to steal the cats canned food and sometimes nibble on the dry food. He likes baby carrots, and potatoes, not big on fruit.
If you think Henry would be a good fit for you family, please submit an application for consideration.
