Crosby's Story...
Crosby is a young adult female Chihuahua. She is a true rescue! She was literally tossed in her foster's backyard (over a locked fence). We suspected that she maybe pregnant and she was taken to the vet to be examined. Unfortunately, she was pregnant, but none of the puppies survived. Crosby is a super affectionate pup with lots of love to give. She wags her tail with sheer joy when you speak to her and she is thrilled to have a foster family who cares for her with true affection!

Crosby is a true gem of a pup.

Are you interested in adopting Crosby or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.

Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524, or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Crosby, a Smithfield Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Smithfield, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Smithfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
