My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello Everyone!!! My name is Felice and I am a 2 year old tiny 8.5# princess iggy that started life pretty rough as a baby-maker. When I first came to Rescue I was VERY frightened of everyone and everything. So much so that I would lose control of my potty and sometimes give a warning snap if someone reached to touch me. In fact, the first day I was in Rescue, I was so scared that I ran without looking and broke my front leg =(. Ouch!!!!!! I went to the doggy doctor and they got me all fixed up with surgery, but that was an adventure too-I did not tolerate surgery and went to The Bridge for 10 whole minutes while they were fixing my leg. Yikes!!!! Thank goodness that wonderful team of peeps didn’t give up on me, because here I am today-thriving, strong as ever, and learning all the wonderful iggy things that life has to offer me!

I am happy to report that my leg is all healed up AND I am really coming out of my shell. I have learned that humans can be nice…really nice. They give me lots of treats and scratches under my chin. I get so excited when I see my foster mom, that I JUMP FOR JOY and wag-wag-wag my tiny tail. I am still learning about snuggles and blankets-that will come with time. Right now I am concentrating on figuring out all the ‘iggy things.’

So far I have learned to do my business on a potty pad and also to go out to the grass-that makes my foster mom really happy and she tells me that all the time. I also know that my crate is a safe place and I don’t mind being in there when there is no one home to keep an eye on me. I sleep quietly all through the night but am ready to come out of my crate and play as soon as the sun comes up! I LOVE to play. I have discovered toys that SQUEAK and also that there is a wonderful fluffy stuff on the inside that makes a really big fun mess when you pull it all out! The foster mom says that is not what I am supposed to do with toys, so I am working on that ;)

Everyone in my foster home is so pleased with the progress I have made and they tell me that it is time for me to find a very special forever family that will be patient and understanding with the rest of my social rehabilitation. Even though I have worked through so many barriers, I still have a way to go. Mainly-I am still developing my trust in humans-especially men and children, so the best home for me will likely be one that only has ladies in it. I have learned about being a loved and well cared for tiny princess, and that being an iggy is WONDERFUL. Now I just need extra TLC while I figure out what snuggles and kisses and being picked up and loved on are all about. Anyone who chooses me to be their new baby will have to be hopeful for progress, but completely accepting of who I am today because I can’t promise that I will get there-only that I will try if you will love me.
