Dawson is a precious Lab mix and is 2 1/2 years old. He is a well-mannered walking companion and is housebroken.and crate-trained;Dawson loves other dogs and feels more secure in their company, so we will only consider a forever home with another dog in it. Dawson LOVES to play ball and enjoys agility activities; he'd make a great sporting dog! He is an affectionate and loves quality cuddle time! Dawson knows the sit and shake hands commands. He is great with people of all ages and also does well with cats. Dawson lives with a school-age child and several other pets; he is bright and will be a wonderful companion! He weighs about 50 pounds.
Dawson's foster mom tells us: "Dawson loves his companions and his outdoor time. He would love a forever home with lots of company. He seems to like all canines he meets and is very respectful of dog-savvy cats. He’s very devoted to his people and is happiest when everyone is chilling together.
Dawson took a few days to settle down after transitioning into our home, but within three days he had calmed down and dropped any nervous behaviors without any training or intervention on any part except loving him! As he has settled into the family routine, his true personality shines through more and more. He is happy in the sun in the backyard or cuddling on the couch while the family goes about their business as usual. He is fun and affectionate and has a clear fondness for children. His adoptive family should be prepared to work with his jumping to continue his significant progress in this area and make him a more respectful greeter and to guide his interactions with children to ensure everyone has fun safely.
Due to his build and age, Dawson has incredible speed and agility. He relishes the opportunity to jump obstacles and build up to a full-out run. He’s good on a lead and in a fenced-in yard; though he can scale our four foot fence if we are not right there. He'd be a perfect agility dog! He is inquisitive, alert, and his energy is easily channeled into constructive play.
His ideal home would be with an active family of both humans and canines who will show him the security of forever. "
Dawson will only be considered in a home where another dog is already present.

Dawson shines in the play yard, where he is always ready to fetch, loves to play ball, and enjoys the agility equipment. He is an affectionate dog who loves quality cuddle time! Dawson knows the sit and shake hands commands. He is great witih people of all ages and also does well with cats and other dogs. He loves to be outside and go for a hike and so enjoys going for a ride in the car. Dawson is very bright and will be a wonderful companion!
Dawson was at an off-site adoption event last weekend and was a great representative for our shelter. He greeted everyone and was so sweet and happy. We adore him!
