My story

Declan is a sweet and cuddly boy who was born into rescue in January 2007. He was recently returned to Ratbone when his person died. Declan is 19 pounds of lean muscle and mostly white with some light tan markings. His bark is deep and sounds like a dog five times his size. Sometimes it seems he tries to speak. "Deckie" has a keen sense of hearing and will let you know before someone knocks on your door although he is not an excessive barker. He is housebroken with a dog door, but wears a "belly band" during the day when his foster parents are at work, because he can’t always hold it that long. He gets along well with his foster-siblings, and that is a testament to Deck’s sweet nature - because those two of them are not always easy to get along with! Someone apparently played/wrestled with Deckie with their hands as he was growing up, because he wants to play using his mouth on human hands, which his foster family is discouraging - even though he does have a gentle mouth. Also, when he came back to rescue he had skin issues, but they cleared up quickly by changing to a food that is not primarily corn. Declan likes to be by his person, and to sleep in the human bed.
