Andy is a delight to have in our home. After a few good baths and healthier meals, he smells much better understands now how it feels to be taken good care of. He is extremely gentle. We have not heard a peep out of him. He sleeps in our crate each night. Usually foster dogs will bark; however, he just goes right to sleep. He has not had an accident in the house or crate. He learned how to use our doggie door within an hour of being in our home.
He's not aggressive at all with our dogs, children or cat. Usually our cat hides for weeks when we get a new foster, but with Andy, she just walks right past him and barely notices him. He was very timid at first, which is what we expected. But he quickly warmed up to us and wants to be near us in the home. He does show an interest in wanting to play with our female pei Izzy; although, Izzy just gets annoyed by him. He does show a bit of fear when we walk up to him quickly or try to take his picture. He runs around the yard, like it's a game to snap a good shot. But on his terms, he'll come up to us and let us pet him all day.
He would be great in a home with or without other dogs. He doesn't mind our children around him while he's eating. He actually moves back because he still seems fearful of us coming up on him too quickly. He did escape our house once by bolting past me out the front door. It was a long 10 minutes to get him lassoed up.
He has a lot of dry skin and scratches a lot. But we are confident that will go away with a healthy stable diet. His coat already looks better within a few days. He loves to be pet and will turn when you call his name. Overall he is a sweetheart and just wants to be loved.
