My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocco is a 3 year old black German Shepherd mix that weighs 60 lbs. He was picked up as a stray and sat in a Kentucky shelter for a month with no one looking his way. In mid-July, after a desperate plea from the overcrowded shelter, a dedicated volunteer welcomed Rocco into the Critter Cavalry family just before he was due to be euthanized. His story is like many others, but he is certainly one of a kind! Rocco is a happy, affectionate, and loyal companion. He is submissive by nature and he loves people of all ages and gets along great with other dogs. He is house trained and crate trained, though he whines a bit if no other dog is crated beside him, but who wants to be alone after having it as rough as he did? Though Rocco was picked up as a stray, his foster mom believes he was abandoned because he hasn't made any attempts to leave her property- he even runs for the house after he does his business outside! After being in his NH foster home for less than 24 hours, he wouldn't let his foster mom out of sight at the dog park, though he was confident enough to run and play with some of the other dogs. When it was time to leave the park, she didn't even have to call his name because he was already trailing behind her with his foster siblings like he had been part of the pack for a long time! Rocco thinks he is a lap dog and loves to have his belly rubbed. He likes to show his appreciation with countless kisses. Rocco can 'sit', 'lay down', 'come', 'stay' and he is working really hard not to jump up when he is excited. He does well on a leash and he only barks to alert, in general he is a quiet boy. Rocco's best quality is that he listens and is attentive to your every move, plus he has a great smile! He is great in the car and shows no signs of possessiveness with toys or food around other dogs. He wants to follow you everywhere too; he isn't happy if he isn't part of the action. Rocco is the ideal dog for an active family and would love a fenced yard to run around in, though this isn't required to adopt him. What is necessary for him is a home that will love him, exercise him and will provide him a home for the rest of his life. He is neutered and up to date with vaccines including rabies and microchip and is fostered in New England. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. CONTACT US AT 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com
