Look who is looking for you! Honey is a wonderful little wire-haired Terrier. Part Cairn (coat and color) and part someone with longer legs, she is a sweetheart who acts like she has always had a home and family. Honey came to us with 4 darling pups who are now old enough to find a home. Honey is looking forward to a home of her own. She does very well with other dogs and will be fine dog for a home with children. She is approximately 3 years old, 18 pounds and has a low-to-no shed coat. Information on Cairn Terriers, her most likely primary breed, is below.

Honey has been spayed. All vaccines are current. To adopt, go to our website Takeafriendhome.org and click on the link to the application. Complete and send. For more information, call Deanna at 573-889-9691 or Cynthea 573-714-4232. You can email us at dogs@takeafriendhome.org.

Housetrained? We think so and… every dog has to learn a new routine in a new home. She needs you to open the door. Just remember - A dog can’t be any more housetrained than you are. For your dog to be successful: use a crate, go out with your dog, praise “right action”, and expect more of yourself than you do of your dog. Housetraining tips are in your adoption packet.

We bring 65 dogs to the St. Louis area every Saturday. If you would like to meet this dog, just let us know. We are at PetSmart in O’Fallon, MO the 1st and 2ndSaturdays of each month and PetSmart in Chesterfield on the 3rd, 4th and 5th Saturdays – 11:00 to 5:00.

Adoption Fees and Payment Plans: We take credit cards and checks. Payments can be arranged with a credit card. As with all of our adoptions, we know it is hard to get married on a blind date... even to a wonderful pup. We will take our dog back during the first month and refund your adoption fee less $75. To hold a pup, we ask for a $50 non-refundable deposit if delivery is not made during the same week.

About the breed: The vivacious little Cairn Terrier is a spirited, hardy, little busybody - a big dog in a small dog's body. Alert, loyal, merry, lovable and mischievous, they are somewhat independent, but very friendly. Curious, fearless and bold, they are easily trained and like to do tricks. Naturally patient with children and very playful, Cairns adapt well to their new homes. They are sensitive, and need firm, but not harsh, training. They are wonderful family dog; active, inquisitive and "ready to go". Great dog for the house, they are very good with children. Dogbreedinfo.com -

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Honey Terrier, a St. Louis Cairn Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cairn Terrier for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Cairn Terrier dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cairn Terrier breeders who help with Cairn Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
