Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Red Charlie is a 7 month old Retriever/Shepherd mix. He has a very sad story of being in the wrong family at the start of his life. Charlie’s original owners got him at 6 weeks old. They would pick at him and tease him. As he got older, he started picking back and their answer was to hit him. They played rough with him, then smacked him when he play bit. So Charlie lost trust for them and started mild resource guarding. Again, when he would guard they would smack him, which only made it worse. He has made great progress with his foster mom (and rescuer) because he is learning to trust again. He is showing his very sweet temperament and adoring nature. The resource guarding is very low. Charlie just needs an owner who will show him that people are good and not scary. He needs to know he can trust them. His ideal home is with an active person with no small children to scare him. He would love to go running and hiking and keep active. Also, a person who will continue the work that has been done regarding the resource guarding. It isn't much but it makes a difference. Charlie will bond with his new owner and be very loyal. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. CONTACT US AT 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com
