Facts about Baker

  • Breed: Irish Wolfhound/Border Collie Mix
  • Color: White - With Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
4 years old, 60 pounds. Baker is full of personality, almost like a human. He is very smart and very sensitive. He is shy of strangers at first and gets his feeling hurt easily. I almost forget Baker is here at the kennel house b/c he entertains himself with the other dogs all day. Baker loves to go for walks but needs a gentle leader b/c if he see's a squirrel he going after it. He has a huge prey drive so no cats or squirrels, etc. If you have a fenced in yard, the fence must be at least 6 feet tall b/c he can jump a smaller one and will for playtime and a hunt. The same goes for dog parks you may visit. On leash, Baker is protective. He is leery of strangers and must be introduced to them or he will growl and back away. He just needs more socialization to be a wonderful perfect boy. We pulled him from a kill shelter the day before he was to be put down. He had been a stray that no one bothered to look for.

All dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered and Heartworm negative unless otherwise noted. We require an adoption application, home visit and adoption fee of $200 ($150 for senior). You also get a two week trial period with all of our dogs. To apply, simply go to www.forgottenpaws.com.

Many of our dogs are in foster homes all over Atlanta, thus an application is required before an appointment can be set to meet a dog.

About Forgotten Paws Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Forgotten Paws Pet Rescue is made up of a very small group of volunteers. We all work full time jobs while running this rescue group. We all dip into our own pockets on a daily basis to get these pets the medical care and supplies that they need to survive until we can find them their forever homes. Unfortunately, some of them have to wait in line for care because we do not have the monetary means to help them immediately. That is where your donations come in.

Our rescued pets live in our homes, under our supervision. We do our best to train, housebreak and perfect these pets to the best of our abilities so that when we do find them their forever homes, they work out.

We at Forgotten Paws revere our rescued pets like our own. We treat them like members of our families until they can be adopted. We are a NO KILL group and we also ask that if a pet does not work out for any reason, 2 days or 10 years down the road, please return them to us. We love them that much.

Our motto: When we rescue a pet, we are in it for life. We are not just looking for a home, we are looking for the right home.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption Process:
**********************************************************
October only, adoption fee is $100, that's half the price!
**********************************************************
1. All applicants must be 23 years of age and must complete an adoption application.
2. You application will be reviewed and all veterinary and personal references will be contacted
3. Home Visit / Play Date - All household members, including current pets, are required to attend the home visit. All needed repairs to fencing must be completed prior to this visit. Gates to the yard need to be securing locked.
4. Two Week Trial Adoption Period - We require the two week trial on all adoptions so that the new pet has time to get settled and their true personalities can surface. It gives the new home a chance to make sure this pet is the right fit for everyone involved. Please understand that like a child, a new pet needs time to adjust and settle in. There is an adjustment period.
5. Adoption Agreement and Adopton Fee of $200 ($150 for seniors).
6. One policy to note: If you have children and you are applying for a dog, we will require you to have a physically fenced yard. Electric fencing is not acceptable in most cases but exceptions are sometimes made dependent upon the dog.

You can find the adoption application at http://forgottenpaws.com/adoptionform2.htm
