Here is what his foster family had to say:
Redman is just a perfect little man. He is not shy with anyone and just laps up all the attention he can get. He is very comfortable being in someone's arms or lap for as long as you will let him stay there. He loves to say hello to everyone in the hopes that they might like to spoil him too.
Redman has had a previous injury and upon inspection by our vet, it appeared that his jaw had been broken but had healed long ago and there was nothing else currently that could be done. As well, his teeth were so rotted that they all had to be removed which is why his tongue sticks out the side of his face (which I might add makes him adorable!) Other than that however, Redman is in excellent health and has many years left to enjoy being spoiled.
Redman is great with other dogs and in his foster home he always lets the other dog go first. It is not that he is overly submissive however and instead just seems to be very polite. He has no separation anxiety and is fine when left on his own however he is a great little companion that you can take anywhere. He sleeps in our bed quite comfortably and just waits for our return. His only fear is that of displeasing you!
His favourite things to do are curling up on a lap, or if it fails, next to me. Next, getting treats. (I've been giving him bananas, which he loves and he also loves walks and car rides. When he is happy he will do these little jumps of joy. So cute! He is very low key and calm in the home and you would suspect he has a low energy level but he loves to run and go for walks, more than you would expect. He is actually quite active outside and even loves to have a backyard to play in. He sheds very little and is generally very quiet in the home. He would be fine in an apartment but would need someone that was willing to take him for walks as he loves that.
Due to having no teeth he must eat mush (wet ) food. Not hard to do. He does bark a bit asking for treats, when he knows he is about to get them, out of excitement, but after NO he stops that. He's not destructive at all (can't chew anyways) but he's gentle even with toys. He will not follow me to the bathroom, and seems to have an aversion to going into the bathroom. He is so small however that you could easily bathe him in your kitchen sink. He knows some basic commands such as come, and down. He is fully house trained. He's ok with the leash, goes ahead, but responds to the slightest adjustment. His pull could be handled by a toddler.
Although he would make anyone's family happy, smaller children might harm him, due to his size, 6lb. He needs an owner who is willing to spend a couple of minutes extra to prepare his soft meals and treats. A home with other submissive dogs is ok, (he's try to play with Lilu, she's not much into it this days) or would be fine on his own.
If you think Redman would have a good home with your family, please submit an application for consideration.
