Here is what else his foster family had to say:
Diago is sweet with everyone. He barks when someone comes to the door, but he is completely friendly once a visitor comes inside. Neighbours can pick him up for a snuggle without any problem. He shows no shyness towards people. When out on a walk, he is sometimes a little afraid of loud sounds or busy activity, but mostly he is fine in all social situations. He has a lovely silky coat and sheds little if any.
Diago is great with our two cats and our dog. He is so interested in people that he hardly notices the other pets, and he is not at all afraid of the cats, nor does he chase them. He has played a little with our dog, but mostly they just politely make room for each other. He does zoom in for attention if I am petting or feeding our dog.
He barks at outdoor sounds such as people walking by or car doors, but he is just informing us of the activity; he is not afraid. He is a bit of a gossip about the neighbourhood activities! On walks, he sometimes seems afraid of too much activity, but he handles most situations easily.
Diago is generally good in the house but he has chewed on a few sandals! He knows stay, come and no. He does sometimes seem puppyish and may be younger than we suspect but overall he is pretty obedient. I have not used a crate with Diago but his new owners probably should or at least have him gated in one area while you are away until he can be fully trusted in the home. He is well on his way to being house trained but still needs to be taken out often. Using a crate I suppose would have made it much easier. Diago stays with me, so if he runs out of the gate for a second ahead of me, he will come back as soon as I call him. He can be in the front yard with me without a leash and not run away. He rides well in a car.
Diago would do fine as an only pet or with other animals. He might be too much for an older pet as he is always looking for attention. He would like an owner who has lots of time for him and wants a true companion. He doesn't need long walks, but he definitely will need playtime a few times a day and is happy in the yard with his owner. He learns best by loving correction rather than tough obedience; he is a gentle soul. He will give real pleasure to any person or family that adopts him because he has a lot of love to give. If you want a dog that will sleep with you at night and help you out around the house during the day, Diago is the guy for you.
