My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and ca

Betty Boop is a tiny, delicate little chihuahua who was rescued from a high kill shelter in the nick of time. She is about 3-4 years old and full grown at 5 pounds. She loves all people, but she needs to be adopted by a family with adults and teens only due to her small size and fragility. She loves to snuggle under the covers and gives kisses. She will snuggle with you when you read a book or work on the computer. She does not need to be kenneled, and is house trained on a schedule. She likes to go on short walks. She gets along fine with 2 small dogs in her foster home and is probably safe with cats. Betty hardly ever barks, but will alert you to occasional outdoor noises if the windows are open, or if she hears other dogs in the house barking. She will make someone very happy!!! Betty Boop is with a 501c3 rescue and is fostered in Woodbury. Her $300 adoption fee is to cover her spay, heartworm test and pill, all immunizations, worming, flea/tick prevention and HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Not required, townhome or condo okay

• Status of adopter: 30+

• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred

• Age of children: Teens and adults only, no young kids now or ever

• Another dog in the home: Fine with other small dogs, but can be an only dog if her human is home alot.

• Cat(s) in the home: Probably safe with cats

• Fenced yard: Not required but she must be kept on a leash when outside
