Facts about Johnboy

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
JOHNBOY is a nice, very sweet and friendly Lab mix. He is even cuter in person with great eyes that you cannot help but love. He likes to walk right beside you matching step for step. He would make a great companion. He is between 3 and 4 years of age and weighs around 60 pounds. He enjoys people very much and is good with both adults and children. There are 4 kids (boy and 3 girls) ranging in age from 8 to 16 at his foster home. We have also observed him with younger children and he was fine. He just has not been around them as much as he has been with the kids 8 and above. He sleeps in a kennel but has a lot of time out with the foster family during the day. He is leash walked and has play time both with the fosters and also time in a fenced play area. He does not seem to get along with most of the other dogs at his foster home, but he has been fine when he has been in situations like at the vets office where he is around other dogs on leashes. We think he reacts to being in the kennel and is better when he is not needing to be confined. But we do think he would do best as an only dog and, as with any dog, we recommend caution when introducing two dogs to each other. He is muscular, athletic, and at times even acrobatic. He has been known to jump out of some of the fenced play areas at his foster home so, when his foster is not able to be outside with him, she does put him in a covered area. He is also leash walked at times so leash walking would be a nice option for him to get some exercise. He has been vetted, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He is heartworm negative. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Johnboy if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit rescue to cover part of the cost of the veterinary care he has received and a microchip.
