Hi, my name is Checkers. I don't have an exact birthday but already celebrated my first birthday. I’m a pit bull - mixed breed and very very handsome (actually I’m adorable but handsome sounds more masculine!) You will be very proud walking down the street with me.
Am I neutered? Yes I am! This means that I am ready to go home as soon as my future forever family finds me!
Am I house trained? Yes I am house trained! I may need a little reminding when I get to my new home, but I promise to try my best.
Where do I sleep at night? I am currently sleeping in a crate because the beds are all taken at the kennel I am in. I had a sleep-over at a foster home and I went right into my crate at night and didn’t make a peep! I can be very flexible so I will sleep wherever you want me to.
How do I do with dogs? I like some dogs but others not so much.
How about cats? I have met cats and some I like and some not so much.
Do I like kids? With proper guidance and a little training, I’m sure I will do fine with kids.
Do I know any tricks? I continue to get smarter and smarter each day! I’m learning "sit," "stay," "come," and "down." I am eager to learn more. I’m strong but I am learning to walk better on the leash, and I respond well to corrections.
What is my personality like? My foster dad said he started missing me the second he dropped me back off at the kennel. His exact words were “I miss the little fella already! He is such a great dog.” He said I was a pleasure to have in his home, that I am very smart, obedient and soooo affectionate. How’s this for a quote? “His tongue must be dry by now from licking my face so much :).” OK so I like to kiss! Is that so bad??
Where do I currently live? I am currently residing at Pine Brook in Norwood, NJ. They are nice to me here but I would LOVE a forever home. Just how great would your holiday card look with me in the picture?
