ADOPTED 08-06-13

In the Deep South, "A HOT MESS" is a frequently heard phrase. Although one might initially infer that its solely a derogatory term and meant negatively, be clear it's specific intent is a bit more complex as the saying acknowledges the undeniable beauty despite the reliance on the immediate appearance or perception of a person, situation -- or in this particular case, our sweet rescued pup, HOTTIE MESS. Lovingly given this backward-compliment but very purposeful and revealing moniker by her compassionate rescuer who found this beleaguered and neglected four-legged angel living in a feral dog colony with 8 other abandoned animals understood the true meaning of the saying because this particular pup was the most critical of all lot and needed the most veterinarian care.

Taken to the animal clinic and teaching hospital where this benevolent rescuer is professionally employed, the kind and dedicated veterinarian wholeheartedly embraced the HOT MESS of a dog presented to her. At the time, this little under-nourished pup was COMPLETELY BALD, full of parasites and suffering from sarcoptic mange, a common and very treatable skin affliction that while utterly painful to the animal is met with immediate relief upon treatment. And that's what our Southern rescuers did: focused on getting this HOT MESS of a dog healthy. The literal and physical beauty of a "survivor" was recognizable from the start despite her harsh appearance. Our rescue has had the sad experience of treating many dogs with this same affliction (fortunately not all are quite this bad when brought into rescue, but most all recover so completely and beautifully that it makes the effort that much more rewarding.)

It's in the healing and recovery of these dogs we are honored to work with in rescue that allow us to go back to the trenches and help more dogs in need. Witnessing the resiliency and potential that these neglected, abandoned and often abused animals experience in the process of their re-homing from these first steps of responsible and necessary veterinarian care throughout the behavioral assessment and socialization is profoundly powerful. Her rescuers noticed upon first discovering this colony of discarded dogs that HOTTIE MESS is already coming more fully into the beauty her. We're confident that we'll hasten that name from HOTTIE MESS to simply HOTTIE as this approximately fifteen-week old shepherd mix personifies a beauty that emanates from a deep internal strength that will eventually be as congruent with her outer beauty when her little survivor's body is free of parasites, cleared of the mange and properly vaccinated.

Having already received her 2 DA2PPVCV vaccinations, her Bordatella inoculation and thorough de-worming with Ivomec for internal parasites (common in all puppies in rescue or not) as well as the mange, HOTTIE MESS has also received her Rabies shot for the year. By her transport to her Northern foster, HOTTIE will not be contagious in any degree as our rescue complies fully with all transport requirements for interstate travel of the animals transitioning into our care. HOTTIE MESS MAMMA will have been de-wormed several times and her mange treated yet she'll need time to grow healthy fur and develop. Another amazing facet of rescue is to see how quickly the dogs begin to thrive with proper veterinary care, consistent nurture, total attention and proper nutrition. Couple all that with the LOVE their rescuers -- be that from the veterinarian, the Southern foster, the transporter or the Northern foster -- that matters most of all and is unquestionably the most POWERFUL OF ALL THE ELIXIRS in the process of the rescue.

While this HOTTIE LITTLE MESS may not look as though she's strong enough to have been spayed, don't let a little (okay, a LOT) of hair loss fool you. After all, we all remember the sage instruction "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER," right? The beginning chapters of this little dog's life may have started off questionably and we may think we have a mystery at hand, but the seasoned rescuers of our collaborative effort can promise that the overall story will be a romance, one in which the plot is thickened by cooperation, commitment, trust, hope and deep faith along with hard work and consistent care all in honor of this HOT MESS. Her last chapters will be a happy life, and we are certain the love that HOTTIE will return is not anything that can be fully understood until someone shares that journey with her.

And that's what rescue is all about: focusing on the future and ensuring we do what we can BECAUSE we can make a positive difference in a deserving dog's life. Even though the cards this young dog has been dealt are nothing to celebrate, we are reminded of the possibility when we put LOVE first and DO THE RIGHT THING. Those of us who have participated in this little survivor's rescue already know that no matter how much we may have given this dog, what she has given to us in the form of restored faith and hope is not anything money can buy or that can be taught. It's the gift they give us that is a sacred present, and if you'd like to be the LAST CHAPTER of this dog's rescue story, and help celebrate the POSSIBILITY and experience that sense of rejuvenation with HOTTIE, please apply to our rescue for this special little creature.

Healthily altered, on regular monthly heart worm/flea prevention, Trifexis, HOTTIE MESS is unfolding and blossoming beautifully. At the veterinary clinic she thrives in the company of all other dogs and as Dr. Nan shares, "when she's with other dogs, this is when her personality shines." That makes sense, too as their confidence in numbers as the pack of 8 abandoned pups no doubt took comfort from the presence of one another. Imagine the joy HOTTIE is feeling now that she can enjoy her canine friends with a full belly, total nurture, good healthy food, a mange-free little body while experiencing that amazing feeling of being WANTED by her rescuers? What a delight to see her play, jump and exhibit joy and delight with her four-legged friends -- newcomers and mainstays alike.

Along with the doting attention of humans, HOTTIE shows her respect for being rescued by not bothering the resident clinic cat, and that's no small feat for a domesticated animal that may have had to hunt for food. With a low apparent prey drive and a gratefully sweet demeanor, HOTTIE enjoys being inside and presently requires only minimal walking. As she regains more of her health, her activity level will no doubt increase, but she's certainly not wild and rambunctious as is the case understandably and naturally with many pups.

Enduring life outside in the Deep South is not fun for a human, much less a domesticated animal left to fend for herself in humid heat and blazing sun with no food, shade or water. Yet the HOTTIE LITTLE MESS of a dog has done well with the people she meets, including the children at the clinic mainly 9-14 years of age, and her enjoyment of the calm, trusting and safe environment at the clinic has healed her tremendously. HOTTIE is not a big fan of loud noise, but there are few babies, puppies -- or even adults that really are NOT affected by loud noise. So, we're going to focus on the fact that she's also wise for her little age.

Without hair, it's hard to tell what breed mix comprises this HOTTIE MESS. Perhaps that's part of the magic, too -- watching her future unfurl like a magnificent rose. Eating a healthy diet of Hill's Science Diet puppy dry food, HOTTIE is getting healthier every day and lapping up the love being lavished upon her. Deemed in "good health" by her vet, and sponsored by many kind and generous people who want to share in this dog's ultimate good-ending story, we have nothing but hope and promise for this special pup. HOTTIE is completely crate-trained and will flourish within a patient and stable home. The vet has noted an old injury to her right elbow that does not present any issues at this time, and an inconsistent arrthymia that is also non-issue. Yet, in the nature of full-disclosure all facets of this deserving dog's life are shared by Rescue Dog Village.

Together, we know we can help this dog find her ideal match, and we look forward to accepting applications on her behalf and collaborating to make sure HOTTIE MESS has her happy ending. There's no better feeling than to partake in an animal's recovery, and it's this special moments that make our own lives extraordinary. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE and for opening your heart and home to welcome a deserving dog in need of a second chance into your life. It matters!

Donations for the pups can also be accepted on our fundraiser website: Click HERE

WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR THE PUPS - the medical expenses for these sweet loving pups are more than our adoption fee and we need donations. Any gift is not too small, these pups will also have many other needs if that is something that appeals to you, they will need flea & tick medication, HW pills, toys, beds and coats. They only weigh between 10-15 lbs and will need their 3rd puppy shots so your donation can go towards that if you want. If you would like to help with their medical needs once they arrive, that would be a great way to help a dog directly.

About Our Rescue

These dogs deserve all of our attention, and in Rescue Dog Village, we are committed to our adopters and our dogs equally. We offer full disclosure and hope to make the best matches possible. Please know our adoption fees never cover our expenses. We rely on the generosity of our adopters and supporters to help us help the dogs.

Our rescue is ONLY in the business of offering FULL DISCLOSURE to adopters, and expects and hopes to engage your questions and concerns fully. We owe it to the dogs we rescue and all the wonderful families/adopters who might consider welcoming our charges into their hearts and home. Our dogs are waiting for that ideal forever home where they will be cherished as deserving family members. It's sad these second chances are even necessary for these dogs, but we are committed to them and will devote the time and energy to their rehoming, and not just MOVE them to save more dogs. We diligently and responsibly seek good matches as we don't want to re-home the dog again. These animals have already endured more than they should have, and through no fault of their own. It behooves us to be honest and forthright, and we appreciate the same in return from applicants. It's that winning combination of reciprocal trust and respect that allows for successful placements to be made. Happy adopters translate to happy dogs, and that's our goal!

Our rescue volunteers will be more than honored to be in touch with you directly and promptly, after receiving your application and conducting a mandatory a veterinarian check. If you have never owned a dog before, please submit your application regardless, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible. TAKE NOTE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR SPAM AS SOME RESPONSES FROM US WIND UP THERE WE'VE DISCOVERED. Also, take care to contact your veterinarian to let them know a member of rescue will be inquiring about your pet history!

Thank you for respecting that we all donate our time to saving these animals, and understand we value your philanthropic and compassionate desire to help be part of the rescue team. That said, you'll understand why we are committed to the well-being of our charges and consider this veterinarian check mandatory. If you are a first-time dog owner, we will work with you every step of the way! ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ARE AS MUCH A PART OF RESPONSIBLE RESCUE AS ADOPTION! And it takes a RESCUE VILLAGE to help the most dogs possible in a thorough manner to ensure success on all fronts, and then some! It is an awful feeling to fail a dog, and we can't continue rescue if we don't do everything we can to ensure good matches for the dogs and tender families who might adopt them. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Although we are an extremely small rescue group, we understand and respect your family's eagerness to be in touch and learn as much as you can about the dogs you are considering adopting. Our very experienced and devoted trainer will be happy to share all aspects of OUR RESCUE DOGS to determine compatibility once you've submitted your application, and another of our volunteers will explain the whole process of our rescue and answer any questions you might have as well

If you have the time and love to offer this extremely bright dog who can make you laugh for hours at his antics, PLEASE APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A RESCUE DOG VILLAGE DOG AND GIVE ONE A HOME. Our dogs deserve all that a committed family can offer. Make no mistake about it, this is one spectacular dog!

Please contact RescueDogVillage@yahoo.com and we will be happy to return your correspondence, but please submit the application now so we can have that information as a starting base for our dialogue.

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING RESCUE AS A MEANS OF WELCOMING YOUR NEXT FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND INTO YOUR LIFE!
