My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petey is approximately 2-3 years young, fully vetted and a sweet boy. He does not do well with small dogs but is good with dogs his size. He prefers females but has been fine with males after proper introductions. He is house trained and does well on leash. Petey needs a 6 foot fenced yard. He loves to chase squirrels, so when the squirrels leave the yard, Petey will jump a shorter fence to chase them. Otherwise, we have not had a problem with Petey leaving the yard. Petey thinks it is his mission to rid the world of squirrels, and cats are similar to squirrels, so we do not recommend a family with cats. Petey also has manners. One of the great things he was trained to do is to wait until the owner walks through a door way before he enters. Petey loves, loves, loves to play with balls and hide toys in the yard. He watches the other dogs and if he thinks they are too interested in the ball or toy he has hidden, he will move the ball or toy. Petey's foster parents are amazed by this smart boy with a winning personality. Petey is neutered, on heartworm prevention, and up-to-date on vaccinations.

ARF'N accepts applications from people between the ages of 21 and 65. We would consider applications from potential adopters up to age 70 for our senior pets. This will be determined on a case by case basis. Active seniors would be considered as foster parents since fostering is a temporary situation.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $100 and $250. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications and during holidays. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process. Rude emails will disqualify you from adopting from us.
