My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lexus's adoption fee is $375.

Lexus is a one year old, black/tan Chihuahua mix that weighs about 6 pounds. She is extremely loving and quite active - she loves to run and jump and will run back and forth trying to engage the other dogs in play. She loves attention from people she is familiar with and will jump up to give lots of kisses. Lexus is a lap dog, always curled up on my lap, giving kisses, wanting her belly rubbed and nipping at my nose!

Lexus is learning to walk on leash and is doing quite well, however, regular ‘outside” daily sounds and strangers are unfamiliar to her, therefore she startles easily. She is not confident and relaxed enough to relieve herself outside; however she will go on puppy pads faithfully every time without an accident in the home so far. Lexus will need someone that will have patience and willingness to continue her training and socialization in order to build her trust and confidence. She responds well to praise to reinforce desired behaviors. The outside world is new to Lexus therefore she is extremely curious, sniffing and looking at everything, always watching what’s going on around her. Slowly Lexus is making some progress, even allowing a stranger to walk up to her and sniffing their hand. Lexus is initially cautious of other dogs, but eventually her curiosity gets the better of her and she will go nose to nose in a friendly manner with any size dog - she is not aggressive whatsoever and seems to be most trusting of dogs than with people.

She will bark when someone comes to the door but otherwise is very quiet during the day. When visitors enter she barks but within 15-20 minutes Lexus will approach them and let them pat her, she is very curious and attaches very quickly. It would be nice for Lexus to have a home with a backyard where she can run off some energy and play fetch with her squeaky toys.
