Liz Taylor and her two puppies (Richard Burton and Debbie Reynolds) were rescued in Feb. 2012. By all accounts, they were feral dogs, never had any human interaction and the puppies who at the time were about 4 months were "wild." They didn't behave like the typical endearing, warm, fuzzy and lovable puppy, they instead behaved completely undomesticated - growling, snarling, and snapping. They were all terrified! Now, all three have made progress while at the shelter. However, they still have a way to go. Born Free needs your help! If you would like to help us by volunteering to spend time with this gal, please contact us. You must be an experience dog owner.

About Born Free Pet Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Born Free Pet Shelter is a No Kill 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization that has been helping homeless dogs since 1980. Located on a beautiful 5-acre refuge in the Redlands of South Florida, Born Free rescues dogs in distress and offers them the chance to lead happy and healthy lives.
We are currently responsible for over 160 dogs, ranging from puppies to seniors.
With the help of generous donations and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we provide the love and care that they deserve.
Some of our dogs will live out their days at the shelter, but we have so many that would make wonderful companions if given the chance.

Come Meet Our Pets...

You can meet our adoptable dogs at any of these locations:
Petco (1635 NW 107th Avenue) every Saturday 12pm - 3pm
Petsmart (13621 S Dixie Hwy) every Sunday 11am - 3pm
Petco (Miami Beach) 1st Saturday of every month

For adoptions, please send an email to geraldinebornfree@gmail.com.

Our Adoption Process...

At the time of adoption it is essential that a fee be charged as it will be used to feed and maintain the animals that are housed at our shelter. The adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, rabies vaccine, microchip and sterilization. We do a home check prior to approving any adoption.
