My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this little cutie! This is Manny and he is a 4mth old Lab/Pointer pup looking for his forever home. Manny was a spontaneous puppy purchase by people not prepared for the work and time commitment of a puppy. He ended up being abandoned at a local vet before being taken to a rural pound. We fell in love with Manny right away and brought him into our rescue to assure him a loving, responsible forever home this time around. Manny will be an athletically built medium/large sized dog when full grown. He has long legs and a lean body now which he needs to grow into. Manny is a fun and very loving puppy who makes us laugh and smile every day. Manny is a charmer and is a very easy pup to fall in love with.

Manny is being fostered in a home with other dogs and cats. He is intimidated by strange dogs initially but in no time is romping around the yard with them. Within the first day here he was playing and running with all his foster dog siblings and in the time he has been with us he has made some good friends with his foster siblings. He is best friends in particular with a 6mth old foster dog we have named Rusty and these two play non- stop for hours. Manny would love a home with a young and playful dog buddy but would also do well being the only dog and getting all of the attention as long as he has dog friends to play with sometimes. Manny is good with the cats as well but our cats are used to dogs and don’t run from them. A typical puppy, Manny will probably attempt to chase a cat that causes a fuss and runs from him. He is only a puppy though so can easily be trained to behave around other cats. Manny is not being fostered with children but we feel he would be good with older kids as long as his family continued to train him to be a well behaved pup. Manny does tend to jump up when excited which may be too much for small children. We are training Manny not to jump up and he is doing well, but again, he is just a baby and everything is a learning process. Manny is proving to be a very smart pup and picks up on skills quickly. He already has “sit” down pat and we are working on “focus” and “down” and “come” and all are going well. He is very food motivated so is responding well to positive reinforcement training with food and praise rewards. He will be a superstar in training classes and we are looking for a family for Manny that will take him to dog obedience school and train him well so that he grows into a well-behaved and socialized dog.

Manny is also doing very well in his housetraining. He is fully crate trained and does not mess in his crate. We monitor him and take him out regularly when in the house and he is responding well and is doing his business outside. He will need continued work to be fully housetrained but he’s almost there. Supervision and regular outings are key to getting a pup housetrained. Manny needs a family that has the time to invest in a puppy and is patient and consistent and fair. He will make mistakes as he is just a baby, but he is very eager to please and if shown the right way to behave he strives hard to please you. Manny is very affectionate and loves to be cuddled and loved up. He gets so excited when he sees you whether you have been away 5 hours or 5 minutes. He wags his tail so hard in his crate that it thumps loudly against the sides as you are letting him out. Manny loves to play with toys and we are teaching him to fetch them. He loves to run and play and needs a family looking for an active dog to participate in adventures and outings. Manny is also great in the car and can travel with you wherever you want to go. All Manny wants is to be with his family and be a much loved family member. He is a blank slate; an eager pupil willing and able to learn. He will thrive in a home where there is consistent leadership and love and where he gets his exercise needs met. He would love a home with a fenced in yard where he can run around and play. If you are an active family looking for a young pup to bring happiness and fun to your home then Manny might just be the perfect pup for you. He needs a forever home that will never abandon him again. Could this be yours?

An adoption donation of $400 is required. This helps cover our costs for veterinary care including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test, deworming and whatever else the dog may require.
