My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We rescued Mikey when his owner decided that he was not going to become the fighting dog that he envisioned him to be. In fact, he got so mad at him that he broke his right rear leg, and allowed the leg to heal without a splint. Needless to say, in a very short period of time, Mikey went from being a young pup, to living on a chain, to almost being beaten to death by his owner who ended up dumping him at a pallet yard where our volunteer Rosalie rescued him from. Fast forward to present day. Mikey is a dog who is social with other dogs, and plays in our pack twice a day, seven days a week. He plays with lots of other pit bulls, shepherds, and even small dogs, both males and females. Even though he is very good in the pack, it's with a lot of supervision. He needs to go to a home that understands and respects what a true bully breed dog needs. He is a big boy, weighing almost 80 lbs, is very affectionate with people, walks well on a leash, and enjoys riding in the car. He has a nice balanced energy level, and could easily live in a condo or loft. When Mikey finishes his play time, he sleeps most of the day. As an only dog, he would do very well with a couple good walks a day, and lots of socialization with people and other dogs on an ongoing basis. If you have owned an American Bull or an American Pit bull Terrier before, or you have done a lot of research about the breed, Mikey might be a good choice for you. As an experienced dog owner, one would have no trouble with Mikey. He needs leadership, and structure to be a successful adoption. Once you meet Mikey, you'll see how wonderful he can be, and how magnificent he looks! Please e-mail me directly with your questions and an appointment to meet this boy who like the Michael Vick dogs, is so deserving of a forever home. Will 2009 be Mighty Mike's year?
