My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Sky is a handsome middle aged boy who SHRF pulled from a county shelter where he was waiting for someone to rescue him. He’s shown that he will need time for emotional rehabilitation since he is not fully trusting of humans. Even though we know very little about his history, we can tell from his behavior and human interaction that he was not treated as a member of a family and was given very little human love and positive attention. He is tentative and backs away when you reach toward him. Whoever adopts Sky will need to understand that he will require time to develop a strong bond and connection with them. He is currently showing good signs of beginning to develop trust with his foster mom.

While enjoying his new found freedom, Sky managed to bonk himself in the head and got a nasty cut over his left eye – as can be seen in some of the pictures in his video collage on our web site. In a few of the pictures you can readily see how handsome he was prior to the cut and in others you can see how well it is healing. He will soon be as good looking as ever.

Sky is an easy going, mellow Sibe who seems to enjoy doing his own thing for now but is slowly showing his playful side with his foster sisters. He gets very excited when it's time to go somewhere and when his foster mom comes home after being away for a period of time.

Sky enjoys his walks and does well on lead. He is a counter surfer so there is work to be done on his house manners. He is food motivated and will sit for a treat. If you don't include him in your mealtime he will let you know by showcasing his vocals. He is extremely vocal when he wants something - either people food from his foster Mom or when one of his foster sisters has a toy he wants.

Sky will go into a crate albeit unwillingly; a treat is always good motivation. In reality though, he has shown himself to be very non-destructive so crating is unnecessary. He is housebroken and will let you know when it's time to go out. He also knows the sit command.

He loves his toys and likes to have them nearby. Even if you pick them up and put them away he will sneak in and retrieve them when you’re not looking.

Sky is low Heartworm positive but otherwise healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. His Heartworm will be treated using the "slow kill" method. SHRF will provide his adopter with instructions on this method as well as supply the Heartworm medication.

Sky deserves to know how a Husky's life should be lived. He has a lot of time to make up for so we’re sure he will be extra loving, loyal and affectionate once he’s given the chance. Start him on this road; fill out an adoption application on our web site, www.siberresccue.com, today.
