My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How often do you hear people comment on how easy it is to have a puppy around the house. Not very often right? Well Kennan is just that. Easy.

He is mostly potty trained. He doesn't mind going in his crate during the day while we are away at work and has never once had an accident in the crate. He sleeps in his crate in the bedroom at night and that is mostly his choice. We have left him free to roam a couple times as we go to sleep, but after a few minutes of freedom he has chosen to make his bed in the crate for the night. He mostly sleeps through the night. If by chance he does need to go out in the night, he politely wakes us, we let him outside, he does his business and comes straight back in to go to sleep.

Keenan gets along great with other dogs. Although he has puppy energy he respects the boundary's of the older dogs in the house. He is very food motivated, and loves to beg, but after a minute or two his puppy ADD kicks in and he gives up to go chew on a toy or a stick. He walks great on and off leash. He loves to play with the big dogs on hikes and thinks he can keep up. He has laid on the top step of a swimming pool and swam in a near
by pond. I think swimming adventures to keep his black fur cool during the summer will be right up his alley. He does great with the open feeding
schedule our dogs participate in. He doesn't over eat and waits his turn at the food bowl like a perfect gentleman. Whoever gets this little guy
for a forever friend is going to be one lucky family.

Please remember that GRFR adopts puppies to forever families who have sufficient time at home to socialize, house train and nurture their new puppy. Also note: puppies should not leave your yard or be exposed to any other dogs unless you are certain that such other dogs have been fully vaccinated and are older than six months. They should not go to parks or Petsmart or anywhere else until they have their last booster shot, as they could contract a potentially lethal virus. Before taking your puppy to puppy class please discuss vaccination requirements for various classes with your trainer or vet. Puppies often need a few dewormers and we encourage you to discuss this with your vet.For more information, please take a look at www.goldenretrieverfreedom.org. Please review the adoption requirements before submitting an online application.
