Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SAFE Class XV is in session! With the graduation of this class on October 25, 2013, SAFE will have graduated and found homes for 100 dogs! Inmate handlers will work with their assigned dogs for two months, in which time, the dogs will be crate trained, house trained, able to walk on a loose leash, taught basic manners and commands, socialized, and taught some entertaining tricks. The dogs are heartworm negative, spayed/neutered, on flea/tick/heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, and fully vetted. You may go to safehavenky@gmail.com to request an application, which may be emailed back or sent to SAFE Haven KY, P.O. Box 401, Princeton, KY 42445. The deadline for applying for a SAFE dog is October 10. All applicants will be notified by October 17 whether or not you were chosen to receive a dog. Jill's adoption fee is $75.
Jill is a one and a half year old Lab/Shepherd mix who came to a local shelter with her sister as strays. They were removed from the shelter by a volunteer who had them boarded at a private facility to save them from euthanasia. Jill's sister was adopted to become a companion for a Pyrenees mix. Jill continued to be boarded until entry in the SAFE training program and has been well cared for. Before entering SAFE, she had already learned to walk on a leash/harness and was allowed to walk off- leash as she knew the recall command. She does really well with the other dogs and is excellent with cats as well. She is friendly and is described as very intelligent. Jill is going to make someone a wonderful pet and a great companion for another dog. Jill is active and playful. She is looking for an active family with time for exercise and play.
