This handsome guy is Bruce. Bruce is a Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, who is a little over a year. Bruce is a wonderful dog, who was well trained by whomever owned him prior to his appearance in the shelter. He has only been in his foster home for a few days, but his foster family is very impressed. Despite being young, he is very well mannered and reasonably calm, with some understandable excitement about being back in a home. He is house trained and crate trained. He knows a few commands, such as sit and down. He walks fairly well on a leash. He is happy to be learning to play with his foster dog siblings, and is just figuring out how to initiate and maintain playing with them. He is very affectionate with all of the humans in his foster home, including his 4 year old foster human brother. As he is coming out of his shell his foster family is finding a friendly, happy, anxious to please, and well-trained dog in their home. He will make someone a wonderful companion and/or family dog. He also could easily and quickly be trained to be a walking or running partner. If you are looking for a dog who already has most of the rough edges smoothed out, but is still young enough and eager to be molded into the type of pet you want, Bruce could be your perfect dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bruce, a Overland Park Labrador Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback dog from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
