Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Riley is a SPECIAL 2 to 3 year old Border Collie.
He is black and white and extremely handsome!
Here is what his foster Mom has to say about him: Riley was rescued from a hoarding situation in Arkansas where he was an outside only dog and had very little if any socialization with people. He came to me very frightened and unsure about his new surroundings.
He instantly warmed up to my dog and a comfy bed. It took him a few weeks to warm up to me. He was housetrained in 2 weeks, which I must say is very impressive from a doggy that came from his situation, and he has adjusted to indoor life just fine. He has never chewed on anything that he wasn’t supposed to and he is left out while I am away at work. I can give and take away bones to him without one growl or lip curl. He even lets me clean his ears and brush his teeth. He knows the commands sit and no and we are currently working on down and drop it. Being very treat and praise driven he is easy to train once you gain his trust.
Some of Riley’s favorite things are: long walks, comfy beds, bully sticks, antler bones, kongs filled with peanut butter, treats of any kind, being pet and brushed, and following his person around the house. It may take him a while to warm up to his new family but once he does you will have a friend for life!
Riley is shy around new people and children in particular so a home with no children or older children would be best. He does have a very high prey drive so a home with cats and small dogs would not be a good idea. He needs an experienced owner that can take a strong leader role to help him feel confident around strangers. A home with a med to large dog companion or someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal. He can jump very high and does not like to be “contained” so if you have a fenced yard it would need to be at least 6 feet.
I can not tell you enough how special this boy is. He is so kind and loyal but since he came from such an unfortunate situation it will take longer to gain his trust. But once you do he is going to be a lifelong friend and companion. If you have any questions about Riley I will be happy to talk with you.
