Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maggie- Desperately Seeking Foster!
Maggie is a very affectionate, lovable old lady. She loves attention and to be around her person. She will follow you like a shadow and loves to nuzzle her head against you. Super food driven, you could convince this girl to do just about anything with a treat! However, that also means she is a bit protective of her food. She needs someone who understands pack leadership if they are going to try to incorporate her into a home with existing dogs. Despite her physical condition (likely arthritis and severe hip dysplasia), she has a great deal of energy and enjoys short walks. She'd gladly push herself to take longer walks because she doesn't quite understand that her body can't keep up.
Maggie drinks a lot of water and thus needs to go potty a lot. Every few hours. She is very good at letting you know she needs to pee - she will pace and often walk toward the back door and nose at you to say "let's go potty." She has a bit of storm anxiety, so she doesn't like to go outside when it's raining, but we find that if we build her a little cave under the dining room table, she's much happier during storms.
The ideal home for Maggie is one without dogs (unless the foster is a strong pack leader) and with no cats. Maggie needs hospice as she has cancer and is too old for surgery. We just want her to be comfortable and happy for her last days. If you think you'd be a good fit for our sweet old girl, please contact us at info@eastcan.org.
