My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can’t help but smile as you observe our little orange guy, Tigger. He reminds us of a purring boomerang as he races around the room, investigating every nook and cranny, purring non-stop. Not surprisingly given his age, Tigger has a lot of energy! Tigger thinks wand toys are wonderful, both feather and fabric wands, and will pursue them with enthusiasm. Tigger loves when you throw any type of ball or stuffed object for him to chase. To be honest though, Tigger will chase just about anything!

One of the great things about Tigger is not only does he enjoy interactive play but he’s great at entertaining himself as well. Several times while I was busy working, I noticed Tigger energetically chasing a bouncy ball across the room and likewise on several other occasions I noticed Tigger randomly wandering around the room with a bouncy ball clenched in his mouth – on all occasions, the sight of Tigger and the bouncy balls made me smile!

Although our Tigger is a bundle of energy, he enjoys attention from his people and will plop down next to you to keep you company. He’s also very helpful when it comes to chores…as I was jotting down some comments in a notebook; Tigger laid down right on the notebook and began playing with my pen. I think he was trying to improve my penmanship by guiding the pen with his mouth and paw as I was attempting to write. Another example of his helpfulness can clearly be seen in the following example…as I was wiping down a surface, my arm going in an up-down motion, out of nowhere I heard purring. The next thing I know, Tigger is standing beside me, purring full-force, gently placing his paw on my arm as it is moving. At one point, he even stood on his hind legs, with both front paws on my moving arm – I think he was trying to tell me I missed a spot.

Tigger has a blast playing with other friendly kitties. It is hysterical to watch him choose his target, get in stalk position, and then proceed to pounce on his kitty victim…uh…playmate! (He usually jumps on the victim’s butt.) He loves to chase, wrestle, and hang out with his kitty pals. When one of his roommates took off across the room dragging a feather wand toy in his mouth, Tigger took off and chased the wand end of the toy that was trailing behind his friend!

For all his fun-loving, playful moments, Tigger does have his moments of zen. All was quiet, when out of nowhere I heard purring. I turned my head only to discover Tigger rhythmically kneading his bed as if he were in a trance – slow, deliberate kneading, eyes squinted, loud purrs – once again Tigger brought a smile to my face as watching his moment of zen gave me my own moment of zen.

Tigger’s a great little kitty who is on track to grow into a wonderful cat. Take it from me, someone who has been the proud pet parent of my own Tigger for almost 16 years – you can’t go wrong with a kitty named Tigger.
