My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Max……….
His owner passed away, and right now he is being fostered by some wonderful folks. He is approx. 8 yrs young, neutered and up to date on vaccinations. When he first went into foster, you could see that he had been gently neglected. Poor diet, lack of exercise, and sort of stinky and in need of a good brushing. Well, with better food and frequent walks, Max has started to lose weight and looks forward to the adventure walks can bring. Then when the bath and brush came out…. WOW! You’d think he died and went to heaven. Doggie massage/brushings truly help bond everyone.
Max would probably do best as an only dog, or at least one that is sweet and laid back. As a typical shepherd, he is leery of strangers and will bark. Yet if you have good treats and a gentle voice, you will get the shepherd lean (that’s shepherd language for ok, we can be friends). We believe that small children may not be suitable in his lifestyle. Part of Max’s past includes being left outside a lot. With lack of shade from sun or snow reflection, he has developed loss of most of his sight. When this happens, the senses of hearing and smelling kick in. Max can maneuver without skipping a beat. (We previously had another blind shepherd and he is in his happy forever home).
There are plenty of adventures, silliness, and memories to make with Max. This gent truly exhibits all the great shepherd traits. Hurry and ask to meet Max… he has a lot of love to share.
