My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This good looking young guy is Riddle and he is a 7mth old American Eskimo Dog (commonly called a Spitz) mixed with a Pomeranian. He is a fun loving, active and friendly pup looking for a forever home. Riddle is a small dog with silky, medium length fur that is soft to the touch and wavy. Riddle came to us from a rural pound where he was an unclaimed stray. We took one look at this handsome, happy fellow and knew right away he was coming into our rescue. Riddle deserves a new family that will love him and train him and care for him forever and never let him be abandoned again.

Riddle is looking for an active family to play with him and take him on long walks. Even though he is a small dog he is young, vibrant, and athletic and needs to get out regularly for exercise. He is not a dog for couch potatoes; this dog likes to be active. He is great in the car and will gladly accompany you on outings, especially if they result in a walk or play session at the end. He is good on leash and loves to take in the sights and smells around him. Riddle would even be a suitable dog for someone who jogs although he will need to build up distance over time.

Riddle is good with other dogs and is being fostered in a home with dogs. He would be ok in a home with another dog friendly, well mannered dog but he would be equally happy being the only dog and getting all of the attention. Riddle loves attention and will take all the affection and play time he can get. He will follow you around the house and likes to always be in the room that you are in. He is also being fostered with cats and is ok with them although prone to chasing the ones that run from him. Riddle would be fine in a home with older children (over 10 years). Riddle shows no aggression around his food dish or toys.

Typical of the Spitz and Pomeranian breeds Riddle will guard the house when you are away. He is little but he has might and he will bark at any strangers that come in your home when you aren’t there. Both his breed mixes are known to be watch dogs and he takes this on as his job when you are away. Friends will be greeted warmly though. He is a quiet dog for the most part and is not prone to nuisance barking. Riddle loves to play with toys and loves balls and will fetch. He also knows “sit” and is working on not jumping up on people. His foster family is teaching him to sit when he greets people and he is catching on, but it’s tough for him as he is a very happy dog and loves greeting new friends.

Riddle is being crate trained in his foster home and he accepts his crate without issue. He is doing very well on his housetraining and rarely has an accident any more. He is a puppy still and needs to be supervised and taken out often. He is a real pleaser and tries hard to make you happy so with routine and supervision in his new home he should settle in quickly and learn where the door is to go out. We are looking for a home for Riddle that will continue his training and take him to obedience school. He is a very smart dog and with proper training in his forever family will be a great little boy.

If you are looking for a silky soft cuddler for a dog then Riddle may just be perfect for you. He loves nothing more than to go for a good walk or play session and then snuggle after with his favourite people. He is a loyal and loving dog who will adore you if you care for him and treat him kindly. Riddle is an easy dog to love. He never stops smiling and you will smile in return just looking at him. He would love an active family to call his own forever. Could this be your family?

An adoption donation of $400 is required. This helps cover our costs for veterinary care including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test, deworming and whatever else the dog may require.
